We sought, we prayed, and the Holy Spirit has answered!

It is with great joy and gratitude that we welcome Dr. Johann J. van Niekerk as our new Organist and Director of Music Ministry.

Originally from South Africa, Johann serves as Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Ensembles and Voice at Centre College. An accomplished conductor, pianist, educator, and church musician, he brings a wealth of experience, a heart for worship, and a deep passion for building community through music.

He has already led our choir in a full-hour rehearsal, and what a blessing it was! The music-making was Spirit-filled, and the beautiful choral sound lifted our hearts in praise. His extraordinary gifts at both the organ and piano were immediately evident. Most importantly, however, Johann demonstrated the qualities that matter most in Christian ministry: a patient and encouraging spirit, genuine humility, and a servant's heart. As Johann himself has shared, ministry through music is his true vocation.

We are excited for this new chapter in the life of our music ministry and invite you to join us in warmly welcoming Johann to our church family. May God richly bless him as he leads us in worship, inspires us through music, and helps us glorify God together.
